5 Free Ubersuggest Alternatives

Let’s Get To It: 5 Ubersuggest Alternatives That Are Actually Free (And Freakin’ Awesome)

These are not “kinda free but not really.”
They’re no-signup, no-trial, no-card keyword tools I used to build up traffic on 3 different blogs in the last 9 months.

1. Keyword Surfer (Chrome Extension)

If you don’t have this installed yet, stop reading and go get it.

It turns your boring Google Search results page into a freakin’ SEO dashboard.

  • Search volume shown right next to keywords in Google

  • Shows related keyword ideas on the sidebar

  • No login, no quota

  • Works instantly as you type

🔥 Pro tip: Search something broad like “digital marketing” and scroll — Keyword Surfer will show 20+ related keywords with volume. Click-worthy gold.

How I used it:
I typed in 50 seed phrases across 3 niches and copied related terms from the sidebar.
= 431 keywords in 2 hours. Zero stress.

2. AnswerThePublic (Freemium but usable)

This one’s a bit moody. Limited searches per day, but still delivers crazy value if you use it smart.

Type in a topic and it spits out:

  • Questions people ask (e.g. “Can you do SEO without backlinks?”)

  • Prepositions (e.g. “SEO for beginners”)

  • Comparisons (e.g. “Ubersuggest vs Ahrefs”)

  • Alphabetical long-tails

It’s a treasure map for blog post titles and subheadings.

How I used it:
I entered 6 niche topics like “freelance writing,” “affordable hosting,” and “on-page SEO.”
Took the “Questions” + “Vs” sections and ran with them.
= 193 usable long-tails — all content-ready.

🤫 Use a VPN or incognito to sneak extra searches if you’re hitting the daily wall.

3. Google Search + AI Overviews (YES, I said it)

Listen — people sleep on this, but Google’s autocomplete and now their new AI Overviews are gold.

Search something basic like:

  • “How to start a blog…”

  • “Best tools for email…”

  • “Free SEO tools…”

And you’ll see:

  • Autocomplete suggestions

  • People Also Ask boxes

  • AI Overviews listing out answers and tools

  • Searches related to…

If that’s not free keyword research, I don’t know what is.

How I used it:
Typed 100 phrases, scraped all the “People Also Ask” questions + related searches + AI Overview suggestions.

= 422 keyword opportunities.
(Hell yeah, I counted.)

Bonus trick: Install Scraper Chrome extension and right-click to export PAA boxes into sheets.

4. Keyword Sheeter (Yes, that’s the name 😂)

Silly name, but serious workhorse.

This bad boy just pukes out keyword ideas — hundreds per minute — from Google autocomplete.

It’s dumb fast. No limits. No signups.

Just type a seed keyword, hit “Sheet Keywords” and boom — instant ideas.

💩 Expect some junk. But that’s the trade-off for speed.

How I used it:
Punched in “how to,” “best tools for,” “SEO tips,” etc.
Sifted through results, filtered manually.
= 127 decent keywords in 30 mins.

(And yes, I did have to wade through stuff like “how to kiss a girl in class” 😂)

5. Keyword Tool.io (Free version)

I almost didn’t include this, ‘cause the free version hides volume + CPC.

BUT — it still gives a crapload of long-tail keyword suggestions based on your input.

You can use it for:

  • Google

  • YouTube

  • Bing

  • Amazon

  • Instagram

  • And more

How I used it:
Focused on YouTube search — typed “how to grow” and let it rip.
Copied 98 solid titles that I turned into blog posts AND YouTube videos.
Total = 73 usable keywords after cleanup.

Total Keywords Found Using These 5 = 1,246 (So yeah, I rounded it to 1,200+ 😏)

I didn’t invent anything.
I just used free tools smartly.
And I stacked them together like LEGO bricks.

Here’s the breakdown:

Tool Keywords Found
Keyword Surfer 431
AnswerThePublic 193
Google AI + PAA 422
Keyword Sheeter 127
Keyword Tool.io 73
Total 1,246 🔥

All free. All legit. All still working in 2025.

Bonus: 3 Tricks to Turn These Keywords Into Blog Traffic (That Sticks)

Finding keywords is step one. Using them correctly is step two.

Here’s what actually works in the real world:

1. Go Long & Specific

Don’t just write “SEO tools.”
Write:
👉 “7 Free SEO Tools I Used to Rank a Blog from Scratch (No Budget)”
👉 “Best SEO Tools for Food Bloggers in 2025”

Long-tail = low competition = faster wins.

2. Use Your Keyword in These Spots:

  • Page title

  • Meta description

  • First 100 words

  • H2 headings

  • Image alt text

  • URL slug

It’s basic, but most newbies skip this. Google needs to know what the page is about.

3. One Keyword = One Article. Don’t be greedy.

Stop trying to rank for 10 things in one post.
Pick ONE keyword, go deep, serve the user intent. That’s what ranks.

Real Talk: You Don’t Need Ubersuggest to Succeed

Is Ubersuggest bad? Nah.
Is it necessary? Also nah.

If you’re broke, starting out, and just trying to get traffic?

These free tools are more than enough to get you:

  • ✅ 1000s of keyword ideas

  • ✅ Real search intent from humans

  • ✅ Endless blog post inspiration

  • ✅ Organic traffic from Google (the kind that pays)

Spend your time, not your money.
Your brain is the real SEO tool.

Final Words: You’re One Keyword Away From Traffic

I don’t care if you’re blogging in a tiny niche or targeting the most competitive space on the internet — if you find the right keyword, you can win.

You don’t need to be an “SEO expert.”
You don’t need to buy Ahrefs.
And you damn sure don’t need Ubersuggest Premium.

What you need is:

  • Curiosity

  • Consistency

  • Tools that don’t rip you off

And now, you’ve got 5 of them. Use ’em.
